RCOBANA Hosts 20th Annual Seven-A-Side Flag Rugby Tournament

With the participation of five different Old Boys’ Associations, the Royal College Old Boys Association of North America (RCOBANA) organized and held its 20th Annual Rugby Seven’s tournament in Cerritos, California on October 11th.
The OBA’s of Ananda College, Trinity College, St. Peter’s College, and St. Thomas’ College all participated in the event, entering the tournament with two teams each. The event was well-attended with more than a hundred visitors who cheered on their favorite teams.
In the semi-finals, Ananda A played St. Thomas A, while Ananda B played St. Peter’s A. The finals were played between Ananda A and St. Peter’s A. The final game was every bit as exciting as the regular games. Both teams were unable to score during the regular playing time, and the referee had to call for a sudden-death overtime.
St. Peter’s College prevailed, scoring a try, and thus taking the Dr. Lakdasa Dissanayake trophy for the first time. Jagath Wicramasinghe was adjudges the best player of the tournament.
